Deception Valley Lodge is set on 15,000 hectares of private reserve in Botswana’s Kalahari Desert and borders the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The area surrounding the Lodge was once home to the San, and guests are offered the unique opportunity to explore this remarkable environment with a San guide.

The remote location of this family-run lodge offers complete seclusion in the vastness of the spectacular Kalahari. The hands-on owners ensure guests have a comfortable, relaxed stay in an area with abundant birdlife, superb stargazing and game viewing.

Accommodation

There are eight spacious brick and thatch chalets at Deception Valley Lodge, each with a separate comfortably furnished lounge, bedroom, and en-suite bathroom with additional outdoor shower. Each rustically elegant chalet opens onto a private shaded patio. Two of the chalets are interleading and have an additional loft room.

The exclusive Kalahari Manor House offers private secluded accommodation for four people in two en-suite bedrooms. The manor house has an elegantly furnished lounge and expansive verandah. This unit includes both a private chef and a private guide with vehicle.

Wildlife

Guests at Deception Valley Lodge have the chance to see a variety of different species, including the magnificent Kalahari lion, cheetah, and leopard, as well as giraffe and kudu. Lucky guests have also sighted the elusive brown hyena. Night safaris reveal nocturnal species such as porcupine, spotted genet and springhare.

Deception Valley is also a bird lover’s paradise, with over 200 species recorded. Birds to look out for include Crimson breasted shrike, Kori bustard, Martial eagle and Pale chanting goshawk.

Full-day trips into the Central Kalahari Game Reserve with its plethora of wildlife can be arranged as well.

Deception Valley Lodge has a family unit which consists of a double bed and 3 singles. Maximum occupancy is 4 adults and 1 child
Families traveling with children under the age of 11 years are required to book a private vehicle for the duration of their stay.
