The Erongo Wilderness Lodge is located in Namibia’s 2000 square kilometre Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy and surrounded by the Erongo Mountains. This unique environment sees desert, mountain and bushveld ecosystems meet to form an incredible wilderness. The wildlife rich area will offer guests the opportunity to see many rare and endemic species of animal, bird and plant life.
The lodge consists of 10 luxury tented chalets with breathtaking views nestled amongst granite boulders. Wooden walkways connect the tents with the main lodge that includes a swimming pool, sundowner deck, restaurant, and lounge area.
Accommodation
The Erongo Wilderness Lodge offers 10 private and exclusive tented chalets under thatched roofs that provide shade from the African sun. The chalets are set within the natural landscape and the en-suite bathrooms are built amongst the rocks and trees. The large French doors of each chalet open onto a private deck and offer guests the comforts of a bush-style mini bar, fan, mosquito nets, tea and coffee station, in-room safe, reading lights, and luxurious linen.
Wildlife
The Erongo Wilderness Lodge is located in one of Namibia’s most diverse and wildlife-rich areas with leopard, kudu, oryx, eland, mountain zebra, springbok, and steenbok to be seen.
The lodge is a bird-watchers paradise and the abundance of bird life is largely due to the three water points near the lodge, in an otherwise dry area. Sightings of the resident pair of Verreaux eagles occur frequently, whilst soaring about their nest on the cliff tops. Guests will be able to spot Namibian and South African endemics such as: Hartlaub’s francolin, red-billed francolin, Ruppell’s parrot, rosy-faced lovebird, Monteiro’s hornbill, Carp’s black tit, damara rockrunner, pririt batis, whitetailed shrike, violet-eared waxbill, and the redheaded finch. Plum-coloured starlings, melba finches, rock kestrels, masked weavers, rock buntings, and whitebellied sunbirds are frequent visitors of the watering holes near the Lodge.
