Wildlife

Etendeka offers guests the opportunity to experience true Namibian wilderness. The reserve has good populations of Hartmann’s mountain zebra, gemsbok (oryx,) and springbok. Guests may also be fortunate enough to experience somewhat rarer sightings of the desert elephant, giraffe, lion, leopard and black rhino.

Etendeka is home to many of Namibia’s endemic bird species such as the Herero chat, Monteiro’s hornbill, Rüppell’s korhaan and rockrunner. It must be noted that while Etendeka does offer the opportunity for wildlife sightings, this is a destination for guests looking for an intimate bushveld experience to appreciate the unique biodiversity of desert adapted flora and fauna, and not specifically game viewing.
