The Tydon Bush Camp is set in the heart of the Sabi Sands, which is part of the Greater Kruger National Park. The Sabi Sands is a collection of private reserves not open to the general public but they are also unfenced, meaning the wildlife has the opportunity for greater movement. All this ensures you have the opportunity for more discreet, intimate wildlife sightings.

Your expedition at Tydon Bush Camp will reveal exciting prospects for sightings of leopard, lion and a plethora of other species during game drives.

Wildlife will also gather at the camp’s waterhole, allowing you to observe herds of buffalo and elephant from the comfort of your camp.

Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg to Tydon Bush Camp – Sabi Sand Game Reserve

The exclusive 3-day Sabi Sand Safari begins with collection from the International Airport in Johannesburg, or your pre-tour accommodation nearby.

Leave the City of Gold, Johannesburg, behind travelling to the famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve in Greater Kruger Park in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle.

Driving northeast through the scenic Mpumalanga Province,  towards Tydon Bush Camp, located in a private bush setting inside the world-renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

After checking in at Tydon Bush Camp there is some time to freshen up, before embarking on a thrilling sunset / night game drive in Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. The Private Sabi Sand Reserve is best known for its superb leopard sightings and close-up wildlife encounters.

All game drives on this Sabi Sand Safari are conducted in open 4×4 safari vehicles.

Upon your return from your first exhilarating game drive after dark, you will be met by a welcoming campfire in the ambient outdoor boma area at camp.

At the end of the day enjoy drinks around the flickering campfire, before tucking into a well-prepared dinner. Dinner is served in either the open-air boma under the stars, or in the thatched dining areaat the lantern-lit bush camp.

In the evening you can relax around the campfire, sharing tales of your first game drive in the exclusive Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Then it’s time to retire to your comfortable tented room for a good night’s rest.

Day 2: Sabi Sand Game Drives

Rise early on day two to a wildlife safari in Sabi Sand to be greeted by the untamed African wilderness at camp.

The morning starts off with a refreshing cup of coffee or tea in the communal dining area, set amid indigenous vegetation. We then venture into the unspoilt bush on a morning game drive in Sabi Sand, one of South Africa’s best safari destinations.

Today’s game viewing drives take us in search of Africa’s Big Five, along with the impressive array of other wild animals inhabiting this private game reserve.

After a rewarding Sabi Sand game drive you will enjoy a delicious mid-morning breakfast back at the Tydon Bush Camp.

Breakfast is followed by some leisure time to relax. Take a snooze in your air-conditioned tent, or explore the camp on foot. Alternatively, you can sit back and relax on the viewing deck, soaking up the tranquility of the bush surroundings.

A fresh light-lunch is served between 1:30pm and 2:00pm in the enclosed dining area.

At about 4:00pm you will venture back into the Sabi Sand bush on a thrilling sunset/night game drive.

Open vehicle game drives are ideal for getting in touch with nature and gaining real experience of the African bush, as well as learning more about Sabi Sand’s wild and wonderful animals and habitats.

Explore the best routes for game viewing and wildlife photography on 4×4 game drives in Sabi Sand. The game drives are conducted in the southern part of Sabi Sand, known for its outstanding wildlife sightings.

Experienced guides are happy to answer questions and share their extensive knowledge with you, providing you with great insight into the beautiful wilderness area.

Return to the bush camp for dinner and drinks around the peaceful campfire. The remainder of the evening is spent recounting adventures in the bush and relaxing under the bright African stars.

Day 3: Tydon Bush Camp to Johannesburg via Panorama Route

Today you bid farewell to the exclusive Tydon Bush Camp, taking the special memories of your unforgettable safari in South Africa home with you.

Travel back to Johannesburg via the beautiful Panorama Route, driving through stunning mountain scenery and quaint little towns along the way. The Panorama Route is one of South Africa’s most scenic regions, with en route highlights including Gods Window, Lisbon Falls and Graskop.

Arriving back in the city of Johannesburg at about 5:30pm, your action-packed Sabi Sand Game Reserve Safari comes to a close.

Tydon Bush Camp

This tranquil tented safari camp is ideally situated within one of the best game viewing areas of the prestigious Sabi Sand Reserve. Set within the Greater Kruger Park, our easily accessible, yet private bush camp awaits you.

Accommodation at Tydon Bush Camp is in three comfortable tented-rooms with en suite bathrooms. These semi-luxury permanent tents provide an authentic African bush experience in understated, traditional safari style. Each canvas tent is tucked away in the bush on a raised wooden platform, offering guests privacy. Every tented-room has its own little deck area, featuring a camping table and chairs for relaxing in nature.

Guests can choose between tents with double beds or twin beds, all with en suite bathrooms fitted with a basin, toilet and shower. These air-conditioned tents are equipped with side tables, bedside lamps, hairdryers and tea and coffee making stations.

This completely private bush camp features an outdoor dining boma set around a campfire, for lantern-lit evenings under the stars. There is also a thatch-roofed dining lapa for serving meals indoors. The dining lapa is a combination of brick, canvas and thatch, and includes a comfortable lounge area.

At Tydon in Sabi Sand we ensure that you enjoy a safe and undisturbed safari experience, by only allowing children over the age of 16 to stay at the camp.
