Hawksmoor House is a 300-year-old Cape Dutch homestead located on Matjieskuil, a 220-hectare wine farm just outside of Cape Town. This beautifully restored retreat, set amongst the vineyards, offers panoramic views of the iconic Table Mountain.

The farm style kitchen, with its gleaming copper pots and charming Aga stove, together with the friendly German Pointer dogs, create a warm and welcoming homely ambience. While flawless service ensures guests of a tranquil and comfortable stay.

The luxurious Hawksmoor House is an easy 30 minute drive from the bustling Mother City, and just 20 minutes from the vibrant town of Stellenbosch. The homestead is beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix of stunning antiques and contemporary furnishings.

Accommodation

Hawksmoor House has sixteen luxurious guest rooms, each defined by a different colour or theme. The rooms, all with under-floor heating, are set around the pool in four lovingly restored buildings: The Manor House, The Slave Quarters, The Dairy Rooms, and The Edge House. The en-suite rooms are beautifully furnished with antiques and soft, elegant furnishings.

The Manor House, offers five elegant double bedrooms, with high beamed ceilings. The three Slave Quarter rooms offer views across the vineyards to the mountains from their outside seating areas. The two Dairy Rooms look over the whitewashed old dairy buildings, each opening onto shady bougainvillea enclosed verandas. Edge House offers four double rooms and a two-bedroomed apartment. All rooms open onto secluded verandahs. The apartment boasts a private lounge, dining room, and well-equipped kitchen.

Directions

FROM CAPE TOWN 

• International Airport head towards Somerset West on the N2.

• Take the R 300 offramp to Bellville and the N1 to Paarl off-ramp onto N1.

• Take exit 39 after the Engen One-Stop fuel station and at the T-Junction turn left onto the R 304 direction Klipheuwel.

• Pass the first left turn to Joostenberg Vlakte and approximately 500 metres further at the crest of the first rise you will see a white signboard on your left “ Hawksmoor House on Matjieskuil Farm “.

• Turn left and travel down our farm road for a further 1 km.

FROM N1 PAARL

• Head towards Cape Town.

• Take Exit 39 offramp ( hairpin bend ) and at T-Junction turn left onto R 304 direction Klipheuwel.

• Pass the first left turn to Joostenberg Vlakte and approximately 500 metres further at the crest of the first rise you will see a white signboard on your left “ Hawksmoor House on Matjieskuil Farm “.

• Turn left and travel down our farm road for a further 1 km.

FROM STELLENBOSCH

• Head towards the N1 on the R 304.

• Once you have crossed over the N1 pass the first left turn to Joostenberg Vlakte and approximately 500 metres further at the crest of the first rise you will see a white signboard on your left “ Hawksmoor House on Matjieskuil Farm “.

• Turn left and travel down our farm road for a further 1 km.
