Hopewell Lodge is an exclusive lodge nestling on a hillside in a private game reserve just a 40-minute drive from Port Elizabeth and covers 6 600 acres of pristine Eastern Cape thicket.

Accommodation

The Lodge can be booked for a group of two to twelve guests. Booking is for a single party only.

Hopewell offers six spacious, sumptuously furnished units; four are private suites and two are executive suites located in the main lodge. Each of the units has a stone fireplace and a full en-suite bathroom with freestanding bathtub, shower and a second outdoor shower. Three of the private suites offer a private swimming pool.

All the suites are luxuriously appointed and offer superb bushveld views.

Wildlife

A number of species have been reintroduced to Hopewell Private Game Reserve since 2002, when the new owners undertook to restore the balance and biodiversity to this ecosystem. These species include Elephant, Rhino, Hippo, Cheetah, Giraffe, Eland, Waterbuck, Burchell’s Zebra, Kudu, Bontebok, Hartebeest and Mountain Reedbuck. There are a number of small predators in the reserve, including the Caracal, Serval, Honey badger, and Black backed jackal. Birdlife is thriving, and after years of absence, Crowned Eagles have returned to breed in the reserve.

Directions

Driving Directions:

R72 by Road from Port Elizabeth (70 km)

Leave the airport and turn left at the traffic circle.

Continue over the railway line to Heugh Rd and turn right at the traffic lights.

Continue straight until you get to the last set of traffic lights at the bottom of the hill. This is a T-junction.

Turn left and follow the N2 towards Grahamstown for about 53 km.

Turn onto the R72 signposted to Port Alfred.

Continue for 17 km and turn right at the Hopewell sign.

Travel by Air:

From Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airports, daily connections fly to Port Elizabeth regional airport.

Transfers to and from the lodge can be arranged.
