Named in honour of the Pan African movement, the 4 star Sarova Panafric was inaugurated by the first president of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta in 1965.  Sarova Panafric hotel is set in beautifully landscaped gardens on a small hill in a tranquil suburb of Nairobi. It is just five minutes’ drive from the central business district and 18 kilometres from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The Panafric is an ideal base from which to experience Nairobi and its surrounds. The ‘Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC)’, one of the most prominent events venues in Africa, is a short walk away. Close by are Uhuru Park, the National Assembly Building, Parliament Building, Central Park and the Kenyatta Mausoleum. The hotel offers first class hotel facilities, friendly hospitality and quality service to both business and leisure travellers.

Accommodation

Sarova Panafric offers 162 rooms ranging from Superior, to Executive, Club, and Studio rooms. All rooms have recently been refurbished and are decorated in a modern and vibrant Afro-chic style. In addition, the hotel has 42 fully serviced apartments and four themed State Suites. All accommodation offers en-suite bathrooms, mini bars, satellite TV and private balconies.

Sarova Panafric suites have a spacious sitting room and bedroom, with both an en-suite and guest bathroom. There is also a four-seater dining table for comfortable in-room dining.

Wildlife

Nairobi National Park is located just seven kilometres from the city centre, and Nairobi’s most popular tourist attraction. It is unique in being the only protected area in the world close to a capital city. Open grassy plains with scattered acacias dominate the savannah ecosystem. Man-made dams within the park have added a further habitat for a variety of birds and other aquatic creatures.

There are over a hundred mammal species, including Black rhino, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, Coke’s hartebeest, buffalo, Masai giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and eland. Over 400 species of birds have been recorded in the park. Other attractions include the Ivory burning Site Monument, the Nairobi Safari Walk and Animal Orphanage. This National Park has a rhino sanctuary used for breeding and restocking other parks.

Visas

Malaria

• Malaria prophylaxis is recommended for all travellers to Kenya.
• Inoculation against Hepatitis A and typhoid is also recommended.

Safety

• As in all major cities, tourists should avoid walking alone at night.
