Serengeti National Park is a World Heritage Site, and is home to one of the Wonders of the World, the Serengeti Migration. The Park is rich in game throughout the year and provides the stage for the world’s largest animal migration, when up to two million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle make their way north into Kenya’s Masai Mara. The stylish Serengeti Migration Camp hides amongst rocky outcrops in the northern part of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.
Located next to the Grumeti River, with its grunting resident hippos, Serengeti Migration Camp offers luxurious tented accommodation that blends into the natural surroundings. This incredible location enables guests to experience an amazing wildlife experience from the comfort of their stone, wood and canvas tents. Efficient, personalised service at this award winning Camp ensures satisfaction for even the most discerning guests.
Accommodation
Twenty tented, comfortable, spacious and stylish rooms, sit on raised wooden platforms of varying heights. The tents have an internal floor space of 45 square metres and a wrap-around verandah with 360 degree views, creating a private sanctuary from which guests can enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom and a lounge area, richly furnished in wood and leather. The rooms are spacious enough to accommodate an extra bed for a child and high chairs and cots are also available.
Wildlife
The Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when millions of hooves pound the open plains, as zebra, Thomson’s gazelle and wildebeest trek to the Masai Mara for fresh grazing . During migration season, game viewing from the camp itself can be a remarkable experience, with herds sometimes crossing the river directly in front of the camp. The Camp’s resident genet can often been seen creeping around the pool area at night as guests are having a drink. Guests frequently have sightings of all of the Big Five during their stay. There are high densities of both large and small predators, and large herds of herbivores.
Around 350 bird species have been recorded in the area. Large flocks of Yellow-throated Sand grouse visit the water to quench their thirst, while Black-headed Gonolek, and Rufous Chatterer forage in the thickets close to the Camp.
