Timbavati Nature Reserve, 53 392 unfenced hectares of gorgeous nature reserve, is located to the north and west of the famous Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve and the Kruger National Park, respectively. Accommodation

Simbavati River Lodge is situated in the northern sector of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve and surrounded by 12 000 hectares of wildlife and rich wilderness in which you can experience an authentic and affordable African safari.

The design of this 4-star lodge is contemporary, warm and welcoming. Guest common areas offer a generously proportioned lounge, bar, boma and extensive decks with breathtaking views overlooking the Nhlaralumi river where regular wildlife sightings take place and guests can unwind.

Accommodation consists of eight luxury tents and three chalets; all are privately situated, comfortably furnished and with en-suite facilities.

Wildlife

Timbavati Game Reserve is the proud home of the indigenous white lions which were reintegrated in 2006. In addition, there are extensive populations of all members of the Big Five, cheetah, wild dog, hyena, zebra, and giraffe, more than 120 listed species of reptile and fish, as well as the gigantic bird population, all of which are put at your fingertips by the resident guides during your stay here.

Children
Children of all ages welcome at Simbavati River Lodge, children between 0 – 3 years; no charge and includes all meals
Children 4 – 11 years: 50% of per person sharing rate when sharing with parents in family chalets
Children 12 years & older sharing with parents in family chalets; 3rd/4th person rate applicable
Children 6 years & over are allowed on Game Drives.
Families with younger children can arrange a private vehicle prior to arrival.

Excludes:
Timbavati Conservation Levy (which may be prepaid) of R200 per person payable at the lodge (subject to change)
Vehicle entry fee of R140 only payable at the Timbavati Control Gate (price subject to change).

Please Note 
Complimentary scheduled transfers at set times to coincide with the scheduled flights into and out from Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport.
Please note that this is a scheduled transfer and you will be sharing with other guests coming to the lodge.

Directions

Self-dive instructions:
Simbavati River Lodge is approximately a 7-hour drive from Johannesburg.
Do not type in Simbavati River Lodge into your GPS.

The GPS will pick the lodge name up but will try and direct you through Kruger National Park which is not the correct direction.
Please note you cannot access the Lodge through Kruger Park but only through the Timbavati Gate as per the directions below.

Follow the tar road from the Eastgate Airport/Timbavati turn-off for 44 km straight to the Simbavati turn-off. (GPRS coordinates for the Simbavati turn-off: S 24° 12’ 20.2” E 31° 19’ 24.2”). Turn right onto the dirt road and follow the lion footprints for approximately 6.4 km to the lodge. On the tar road, you will go through 2 control gates. At the second gate, you enter the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve where you will pay a Vehicle Entrance Fee per vehicle. Keep your permit, as the Lodge will issue you with an exit permit when you return again.

Please do not arrive at the lodge late, as you will then miss the afternoon/evening game drive and lunch, which we do not serve later than 16h00
