The Singita Mara River Tented Camp is located within the Lamai Triangle, a 98 000 acre concession in the northern Serengeti. As there is no fencing, the wildlife migrates freely between the National Park and the concession, including the millions of wildebeest and zebra of the annual migration.

The camp, sited on the northern banks of the Mara River, just south of the Kenyan borders a completely self-sustained eco retreat. The camp runs off solar-power and was built using recycled and natural materials, ensuring a minimal impact on the environment.  The luxurious tents offer guests unsurpassed luxury in a pristine, wildlife abundant location. Accommodation

Mara River Tented Camp has six luxurious canvas tents, accommodating a maximum of sixteen guests.  Four of the tents accommodate two guests, and two family tents sleep four guests each.

Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with shower, as well as a private open-air tub with magnificent river views. Private timber viewing decks offer panoramic views of the game rich Serengeti plains. The bohemian chic furnishings are complemented by contemporary African art.

Wildlife

The Mara River is one of the popular crossing points of the annual wildebeest migration. The migration, for which the Serengeti is renowned, sees two million ungulates move across the plains in search of grazing and water. The predators closely follow the wildebeest and zebra, looking for easy pickings.

The best time to see the Great Annual Migration is February through to March, when the wildebeest and zebra have their young. Not only will guests enjoy seeing baby animals, but the predators are at the highest number too. The migration usually moves out of the Serengeti area by the end of June and does not return until December.

However, the reserve teems with wildlife throughout the year, with the Mara River being home to large populations of Nile crocodile and hippo.  Other animals to be seen include impalas, Masai giraffe, warthogs, topi, gazelles, hyenas, lions, leopards, cheetahs and caracals. Guests are treated to frequent sightings of the Big Five during their stay, as well as the rare Colobus monkey. Bat-eared fox and serval are among regularly seen smaller carnivores.

Bird life is prolific, with over 450 species recorded in the region ranging from the huge ostrich to the little spotted woodpecker. Specialties include the Red-capped robin chat and Black-headed gonolek. Other notable sightings include Kori bustards, Secretary birds, Marabou storks, lovebirds, Martial eagles and a variety of vulture species.

By Air:

All flights land at Lamai airstrip approximately a 30 minute game drive from the camp.
On scheduled flights, the weight of luggage is restricted to 15kg (33lb) for checked baggage and 5kg (11lb) for hand luggage).
