Sussi & Chuma is situated on a meander of the mighty Zambezi River just 12 kilometres upstream from the iconic Victoria Falls, and alongside Zambia’s Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. This elegant secluded retreat is named after David Livingstone’s faithful friends, who carried his body back to England after his death in Zambia.
Nestling among Jackalberry trees and Phoenix palms, the exclusive upmarket Sussi & Chuma offers panoramic views of the islanded-dotted river. The soothing sounds of the gently rushing river add to the relaxing ambience of this luxurious lodge, and the sumptuous accommodation and personalised attentive service assure a memorable and superbly comfortable stay.
Accommodation
Accommodation is in twelve spacious Sussi tree-houses, connected by wooden walkways, and two secluded. Chuma houses, each with two bedrooms.
The en-suite tree-houses are built in a canopy of imposing ebony trees along the picturesque river bank. Comforting earthy tones imbue the luxurious open-plan suites with a peaceful relaxing ambience, and the draping mosquito nets add a touch of romanticism. Each tree-house opens onto a private timber deck offering superb views of grunting hippo in the shimmering Zambezi – a perfect setting for sundowner.
The two exclusive Chuma Houses are private self-contained homesteads offering one double and one twin en-suite bedroom. The double room offers an additional outdoor shower for sun-dappled or starlit bathing. There is a sumptuous lounge with a fireplace, spacious indoor and outdoor dining areas, and a well-equipped kitchenette. The outdoor verandah has a barbecue area and a private swimming pool offers welcome refreshment after a day’s sightseeing. Guests at the Chuma houses have their own private chef, guide, vehicle and boat, assuring that all needs are met with personalised and attentive service.

Visas can be obtained upon entry or can be arranged prior to travel.

Children:
Children aged 9 and over are welcome at the tree-houses, and the Chuma houses welcome children of all ages.
Children aged 9 – 11 pay 50% of the adult rate.
Children 12 years and above are charged the applicable adult rate.
Directions
Scheduled and charter flights into Livingstone are available. The lodge is a 20 minute road transfer from Livingstone Airport
Please note the luggage restriction is 15kg per person in a soft-sided bag. Road transfers to Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma can also be arranged (at an additional cost) from Victoria Falls town, Victoria Falls Airport and from Kasane in Botswana (1 hour 30 minutes.) Guests may self-drive to the lodge should they wish.
